Lent, my fourty day “Wake Up Call”

Wednesday started lent, which started my fourty days without beef. In all truth it will be 46 days if you count Sundays. Although this is difficult for me, I do not care to eat any other kind of meat, I fully intent to see this through.

Giving up beef, along with quiting smoking due to health reasons (will discuss in another blog), have proven to be harder than I thought it would be. Giving these two up at the same time has caused me to be irritable, made me realize everything stinks, and is really jacking up my sleeping habits. But I know in the long-run this is really good for me.

This experience has made me realize that beef is everywhere, yeah… so are smokers. It is hard to eat at a fast food joint if you are not a beef eater. I really believe they need to work on the menu to accomodate people who do not eat burgers or beef tacos.

As I stated this will be a 46 day ordeal.. of which I have completed four. I am certain in this time there will be more post on this experience. You know… if you are going through this, it would be great if you share your experiences!

Becoming Legal: Part 2

Ok.. as promised I am going to share my driver license office experience with you. If you do not have any recollection about this topic please revert back to Becoming Legal

So I got through the social security office still in one piece and breathing, notice I did not say unscathed, and knew I still had a journey infront of me. Trying to be ahead of the game, I called into the DPS office and asked what documents I would need to bring. After about a zillion rings someone with a bad attitude finally answered and I got the answers to my questions.

My decision to take a day off to get my drivers license was useless. I gathered all my documents, got everything ready, and was at the office at 7:30 am on Monday morning. I stood in line for an eternity, filled out all paperwork, proved I existed, and was asked to take the written test. Now keep in mind our methods of testing have advanced, we can now take the drivers test on a computer.

I get set up on “my station” and am on my way to getting my license (by way of computer testing) when all of the sudden the freakin computers go down. Basically in my third questions the whole system shut down. Nice huh… it gets better. The very nice, ok a little sarcastic, lady informed me I failed my test. I should have studied harder!

Anyway, long story short. Retook the test the next day, passed, got my drivers license… and am now 100 % legal again! In as little as three weeks, I get the license in the mail… buddy let me tell you, the pic is hideous. Thank goodness it wasn’t a family photo or something.

Now after all this fun I do promise… I will be renewing my license no less than eleven months in advance. 2-8-2015… I am totally ready for you!
